The length of your racing skis should be based on your skills and height - see table.

| Beginner | your height -15 cm | your height -10 cm |
| Intermediate | your height -10 cm | your height -7 cm |
| Advanced | your height -5 cm | your height -5 cm |
| Expert | your height | your height |
The picture illustrates the ski length for a piste intermediate skier (your height minus 10 cm) and ski length for a race intermediate skier (your height minus 7 cm)
