Replacing Your BMX Tubes

BMX tubes are located inside the tires and are responsible for holding the air. They are crafted from various types of durable rubber and feature a tire valve, either a Presta or Schrader valve, for inflation.

Given the nature of BMX riding, inner tubes will eventually need replacement. Whether you’re into freestyle or racing, you’ll know that both activities subject tires to hard impacts and repetitive pressure, leading to punctures over time. Small punctures can be repaired with a patch kit, but if your BMX inner tube continues to lose air pressure, it’s time to purchase a new tube. What BMX Tube Size Do I Need?

The size of your BMX tube should match the size of your BMX tire in terms of diameter and width. The most common tire diameter is 20 inches, so a 20-inch BMX tube would be suitable. The inner tube width is provided as a range, for example, 1.70 - 2.5 inches. The tire width should fall within this range, but if it is slightly narrower or wider, it will still work.
