In this collection, you'll discover adult scooters suitable for various purposes. Our aim is to supply a range of high-quality scooters from trusted brands, offering the finest choices across all price categories.
Adult scooters – also known as commuter scooters – are crafted for adults who seek a practical, swift, and enjoyable mode of transportation.
Adult scooters are built to support individuals weighing up to 100 kg (or 220 lbs), with some variations accommodating even higher weights. Whether you're travelling to work or joining your children for a spin in the park, this is the ideal stop for adults searching for a scooter.
What Defines an Adult Scooter?
Adult scooters are constructed as safe and efficient means of transport for adults. They are larger than stunt scooters, yet maintain a lightweight structure robust enough to support an adult's weight.
Typical features of adult scooters consist of:
- Adjustable handlebars, perfectly proportioned for teenagers and adults
- Folding mechanism for ease of transport and storage
- Large wheels having a diameter of 200 mm or more
- Durable and lightweight design
What Are the Benefits of Foldable Scooters?
Foldable scooters are excellent for daily use. The ability to fold the scooter allows for space-saving when not in use. Foldable scooters are convenient for public transport, storage in tight spaces, or in the boot of your car.
Modern scooters are equipped with dependable and user-friendly folding mechanisms, which generally employ a quick-release locking-pin. You can operate the folding mechanism without needing any tools.
Foldable Versus Non-Foldable Scooters
Your preference between a foldable and a non-foldable scooter hinges on your needs:
- Foldable scooters are designed for easy portability and are simple to carry.
- Non-foldable scooters are crafted for stability, durability, and longer journeys.
Within our adult scooters collection, we have both foldable and non-foldable designs. While all models ensure safety and sturdiness, foldable scooters might have a potential vulnerability at the folding joint – a concern not present in non-foldable versions.
If planning for extended rides or tackling rougher surfaces, a non-foldable scooter might be preferable. Nevertheless, the folding mechanism is an impressive feature for collapsing and transporting the scooter easily, making storage much more manageable.
Which Size Scooter Should I Choose?
Measure from the ground to a comfortable height for holding the handlebars during a ride. The optimal handlebar height should range between your hips and navel. Once you identify that position, add 5 cm to accommodate the gap from the top of the deck to the ground.
Examine the scooter's total height specification for your chosen model. The total height reflects the distance from the ground to the handlebar top. For adult scooters with adjustable handlebars, the total height is specified as a range – the lower value signifies the minimum handlebar level, while the higher value indicates the maximum height.
Do Adult Scooters Come with Hand Brakes?
Not every adult scooter is fitted with a hand brake; however, they all possess a rear fender brake. You can decelerate a scooter in three ways: employing the fender brake, utilising a hand brake (if present), or placing a foot on the ground to produce friction. Although placing a foot is instinctive, it wears down shoe soles unnecessarily. For commuting, opt for a scooter equipped with a solid fender brake or handbrake (or both).
Hand brakes enable quicker and more controlled stops. Commuter scooters are enhanced by hand brakes as they improve safety in traffic and offer smooth, responsive speed control. Although not essential, we advise opting for hand brakes for commuting purposes.
