Years afterwards, Benny and Andrew reconnected in Los Angeles and became committed to launching their own skate brand. At that point, both were without a wheel sponsor, making it the ideal moment to create Wayward skateboard wheels.

Since the inception, the brand has received acclaim for its high-quality urethane wheels, distinct designs, and vibrant colourways. According to Andrew Brophy, a significant source of inspiration for the logo, graphics, and colour schemes is derived from car racing and the 1980s.
